Early depart from hotel for ile-ife. At the arrival in ife we would be taken to a fist class hotel in ile-ife, where you would be treated with good customer service to feel comfortable. Upon your arrival to the city tradition demands our visit to Ooni of ife’s Palace. It is notable as the centre of Yoruba history and culture. Contains mythical objects and spots of historical significance. Legend has it that this location contains the spot where the first blacksmith vanished from earth, to continue his existence underground. The magnificent palace of the Ooni of Ife otherwise known as Ile Oduduwa, named after the first king of the Yoruba race. The palace is an in-depth reflection of ancient Ife because the palace existed alongside the city as far back as 500 BC.It is a perfect symbol of power, authority and pride for all who trace their heritage to Ile-Ife. Even with the modernization of the palace, traditional and cultural part of it is still preserved. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
After breakfast drive to village for the olojo festival, On this day, the Ooni (king of Ife) appears after several days of seclusion and denial communing with the ancestors and praying for his people. This is to make him pure and ensure the efficacy of his prayers. Before the Ooni emerges, women from his maternal and paternal families sweep the Palace, symbolically ridding the Palace of evil. The Ooni later appears in public with the Are crown (King’s Crown), which is believed to be the original crown used by Oduduwa to lead a procession of traditional Chiefs and Priests to perform at the Shrine of Ogun. The next stage of the ceremony is to lead the crowd to Okemogun’s shrine. Here he performs duties including the renewal of oath, divination for the Ooni at the foot of Oketage hill by Araba (Chief Priest), as well as visiting places of historical importance. After breakfast drive to to Moremi Statue of liberty (A Symbol of Yoruba Aesthetics) Moremi was a Yoruba heroine whose statues are in Ile-Ife as a memorial of her votive sacrifice to save her people from annihilation. We would also drive to the opa oranmiyan staff temple.
We would also have the pleasure of experiencing ife’s night life, this would involve ile ife traditional performance such as music, dance, beating of drums and face painting. We would be giving the experience of palm wine tasting. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
